Been too long

So, I have been looking over my old blog and realized that my last post was the day before Quinton was born. It was fun to read over that post bc I remember how down I felt after that 39week appt. I was so sure that he was never going to come and I was so worried that I would have to be induced. Little did I know....
I talked to baby boy in utero, but had no idea he was listening so intently. I would say "You can't come until the nursery is done". Well, at 10pm the night of my 39th appt we finished the nursery. I woke at 6am the next morning with contractions. Even with all the excitement, I sent Mike to work and continued with my day. I cleaned, had a phone conference for work, and timed contractions. Around 3pm I called the drs office and was told to come in. So, we went in expecting them to tell us to go home. However, I was already 4cm dilated, so they sent me to the hospital.
What followed was ~15hrs combined of labor, trying to rest, pushing, and then the crashing realization that baby boy was not going to come naturally. This was devastating. You take birth classes that, as much as they try to stay neutral, really emphasize vaginal, non-drug, birth. So you go into labor thinking I'll never have epidural (got over that at 6cm), I'll never have c-section, and when the opposites happen it is really crushing. I was ok getting an epidural, but a c-section seemed so foreign and was really scary. Luckily, I was equipped with a wonderful husband and the best nurse and doctor I could have imagined. The nurse and doctor walked us through everything and even sat with us when we decided to push a little more. My doctor even performed the section even though she was due to be off shift at 7am. She is now my full time doctor and always asks about Quinn. I look forward to her delivering any future babies.
Baby Q was born at 7:17am on April 21, 2010.

I have to finish this post because Quinn has woken from his nap. My last statement for today- Quinn is 23months, so I've been a Mom for almost 2yrs, and I love it!
